The Well in Wellball

When we first started building what would become Wellball, it was called Shotclub – a pure, grassroots celebration of shooting competition. But as the vision for the sport grew, so did the need for a name that could carry the movement for generations to come.

After careful thought, and inspired by the lasting success of other “ball” sports like basketball, football, and the recent meteoric rise of pickleball, we knew we needed something bigger, something timeless.

That’s when our marketing guru, Ryan Burch, sparked the idea for Wellball.

Here’s why “Wellball” fits perfectly:

The Well

The centerpiece of our game is The Well, our patented rebounding device that powers continuous play. You shoot, retrieve a ball from The Well, and immediately get it back to your teammate to keep the action flowing. The Well represents rhythm, opportunity, and endless competition – just like the game itself.

Wellness

Wellball isn’t just about winning – it’s about wellness too.

Our sport is built for all ages and skill levels, giving players the ability to compete, stay active, and thrive for life. It promotes physical, mental, and social wellness by keeping people connected, moving, and engaged – no matter their background.

The Wellington Family

The name also reflects the roots of our founder, Omar Wellington, and his family’s commitment to meaningful contributions in every community they touch. Wellball is more than a game – it’s an opportunity to create unforgettable experiences, foster connection, and leave a lasting positive impact.

When Ryan Burch evaluated the challenge of evolving Shotclub into something that matched the size of our vision, Wellball was the name that brought everything together:

The spirit of the competition.

The focus on lifelong health.

The legacy of building something that will outlast us all.
