WellBall VIP League Returns to New York City on December 20

The WellBall VIP League, featuring the world’s first head to head shooting sport, is set to return to New York City on December 20.
The event follows a historic WellBall showcase in Dallas, Texas over Thanksgiving weekend, which marked the first time WNBA players Paige Bueckers and Sonia Citron stepped up to The Well. The upcoming New York City event will feature a dynamic mix of former NBA players, social media influencers, and business leaders. The WellBall VIP League is an ongoing private event series that brings together professional athletes, celebrities, executives, and WellBall enthusiasts.

WellBall is a non contact sport centered entirely around shooting skill, emphasizing mid range and long range efficiency. Gameplay includes specialty shots such as MoneyBalls and GameChangers, along with a high stakes Bonus Round designed to spark dramatic comebacks. Due to its accessibility and non contact format, WellBall is often described as the pickleball of basketball. Anyone can play. You never know who will be the best.
In fact, the greatest WellBall player to date is 68 year old DMV native Brian Magid. Regardless of the competition, whether WellBall veterans or former professional basketball players, Magid continues to set the standard. His most recent performance in Manhattan saw him shoot an astonishing 79 percent from the field. Magid is set to return to The Well on December 20, raising the question of whether he will retain his title as the best WellBall shooter in the world.

The first WellBall VIP League event took place in September at The Waterline Club in Manhattan and featured a compelling mix of former NBA players, influencers, and executives. Among them was former NBA All Star and New York Knicks legend Stephon Marbury. After first experiencing WellBall at a community Knicks WellBall tournament in April of 2025, Marbury quickly became a regular participant in the VIP League. He famously coined the phrase “your defense is your offense,” highlighting WellBall’s non contact format where success is determined solely by shot making. Marbury is set to appear once again on December 20 at the final VIP WellBall event of the Fall season.
The rapid rise of the WellBall VIP League is the vision of WellBall Founder and CEO Omar Wellington, whose mission alongside the WellBall team is to grow the sport globally. Wellington is a former Division I basketball player who owned and operated a sports training facility for over a decade. During that time, he trained numerous elite players, including Rick Brunson and Jalen Brunson, among many others. WellBall was born from years spent on the court and a deep understanding of how to motivate players while maximizing performance through competition and innovation.

At this time, WellBall VIP League events are private and not open to the public. Fans can follow along for updates, exclusive content, interviews, and highlights by following @playwellball across all major social media platforms.
